Scabi-Cap Creamy Lotion is a topical medication containing 5% Permethrin, designed to effectively treat infestations such as scabies, head lice, and crab lice. It works by disrupting the nerve cell membranes of these pests, leading to their paralysis and subsequent elimination.
Indications:
-
Scabies: A contagious skin condition caused by the itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei, resulting in intense itching and rashes.
-
Head Lice: Infestation of the scalp and hair by Pediculus humanus capitis, causing itching and discomfort.
-
Crab Lice: Parasites known as Phthirus pubis that attach to coarse body hair, especially in the pubic region.
Usage Instructions:
-
Application: Shake the bottle well before use. Apply the lotion thoroughly from head to toe, ensuring coverage under nails, in skin folds, and between toes.
-
Duration: Leave the lotion on the skin for 8 to 12 hours.
-
Rinsing: After the specified time, rinse off the lotion by showering or bathing.
-
Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mucous membranes. In case of accidental eye exposure, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor if irritation persists.
Dosage Recommendations:
-
Adults: Approximately 30 mL.
-
Children: Approximately 15 mL.
-
Infants (2 months to 1 year): Approximately 4 mL.
Note: Some adults may require more than 30 mL, as prescribed by a physician.
Safety Information:
-
Pregnancy and Lactation: Limited data is available on the use of Permethrin during pregnancy; it should only be used if clearly needed. It's not confirmed whether Permethrin is excreted in breast milk, so caution is advised during lactation.
-
Pediatric Use: Considered safe and effective for pediatric patients aged two months and older. However, its safety and effectiveness have not been established for infants under two months of age.
-
Contraindications: Not recommended for individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of its components or allergies to synthetic pyrethroids or pyrethrin.
Potential Adverse Effects:
Generally mild and transient, including mild burning and stinging sensations following application. Rarely, itching, redness, numbness, stinging, and rash may occur.
